The feel of a line

Recently I was reminded of one of my teachers, he was very into the sensuality of a painting sensuality of form.
I've been thinking more of the emotional function of a line. Sensual...sexual...aggressive...passive?
The Whiplash curve of a femme fatale era work, the voluptuous curve of a rubenesque angel, the flow of a Raphael gown or the forceful invasive scratch of an Egon Schiele?
Each line has its purpose as it pushes into space.
